Taking it Back

School is definitely back in session! And so is work! Yes, I am completely happy! Can’t you tell by the overuse of exclamation points? (=

Okay, so first off: The tongue piercing is healing nicely. In fact, I’ve been eating solids the past couple of days and the swelling has been going down pretty darn fast! This is definitely one of the faster healing piercings, I can tell. In a couple more weeks, I will be changing the barbell to something short because the long bar makes me speak with a lisp, which I’ll admit is quite funny, but also annoying because of this long piece of metal. lol

Anyway! School! Ok, we started on Monday, the 25th. It was super hard for me to get my butt out of bed, because I had gone to bed at like 3AM and had to be up at 7AM for the commute. But, I managed to get out of the house on time and get a nice parking spot on campus.

Mondays and Wednesday classes are my Developing Human Potential and Elementary Stats classes. My Developing Human Potential class is almost exactly like my Child Development class in Spring 2008. Seriously, so far the lectures have been like review to me because I learned it all previously. But the professor is nice. Actually, this class is a team-taught class. For the first half of the semester, we’re focusing on motor development and stuff, and the second half is like child development stuff. So yea! Stats seems like it’ll be enjoyable! A few people that I know have failed stats, but I’m hoping not to be one of those kids! lo The professor is really awesome and he cracks really lame jokes. haha!

Tuesdays and Thursdays are my Acting and Human Lifespan classes. I’m kinda nervous for acting now, I don’t know why! I guess it finally hit me that I’ll have to take risks in this class- Getting up there and acting! Oh well, I’m sure I’ll enjoy it. (Except right now I’m stumped on what to “perform” as an intro  performance for today [Thursday]) And my Human Lifespan class is, once again, just like my Spring 2008 class. So it should be easy.

Overall, I’m pretty damn excited for this semester as I’ve stated before! Should be easy and I think the only challenging class I have is Stats. hehe

And I think I’ve found the sorority that I want to rush/pledge for! I am hoping to rush/pledge for Lambda Sigma Gamma, a multi-cultural sorority. They do not have a house to live in like the national panhellenic ones, in fact, a lot of the sisters live on camps, off campus and commute also! And they do a lot of fundraisers to keep the member fees low, and also to support California’s Head Start Program. And since I am going into the field of education, doing stuff closely related to the Head Start program is just amazing! So, these next few weeks will be busy because I will be attending socials and informationals. I will be working very hard during their recruitment and joining process, so if I disappear, you’ll know why!

Oh yes, and I started work on Tuesday, the 26th. It felt so nice to see my kids again! but I was missing a couple of kids. My 5th grade boys, Mikhail and Darren, are no longer there. So I was quite depressed because I wouldn’t see them ever again! )= But I’m sure they’re doing well in 6th grade, which is middle school for them. Anyway. The first day was quite crazy, but fun. Everyone was still getting situated and whatnot. We have a cute group of kinders. I think I’m going to have fun with them!

That’s all that I have for now. Derek and I celebrated out 53 month anniversary on the 27th (yesterday) and we went to our favorite Chinese food restaurant. (=

The Big Prick

Got my tongue pierced yesterday… Like all of my piercings, I didn’t think it out before hand, I didn’t look before I leaped. I jumped right on in. I took my cousin with me also. It was fun. No pain during the piercing, and right now I’m not having any pain, but my tongue is indeed FATTY STATUS. It’s so incredibly swollen. haha But I’ve been drinking water and letting ice sit on my tongue. You’re not supposed to suck on them, I’m told, so I kinda just let them sit there in my mouth while I watch a movie or something. But yea. I eat some soft foods, but I’m constantly rinsing my mouth out with sea salt water. It’s like swallowing the ocean! hahaha

So yea. I’m loving my new piercing. I can’t wait to put a shorter barbell in because this long one is a bitch. lol And, because I drink a lot of water, I’m constantly going pee….

Rush 2008

By: LIANNA | 08.20.08 | 10:30 pm

I’m going for it: I’m going to rush for a sorority this year!

I’m super duper excited, because I’ve been wanting to rush since last year, but I couldn’t do it last year due to financial things. But, now I have saved up enough money to go through with the rush process and get put into a sorority! I’m hoping to get into Delta Zeta, because my aunt was in it, though I am open to any of the Pan-Hellenic sororities.

So, next Monday, the 25th, I’m going to sign up and pay the fee to rush. Then on September 10, the real stuff happens! On the 10th, they have a mixer and a forum, which are just some events to get to know some of the girls in the houses and such. Then on the 12th (Friday), they have the sorority house tours, so that I get a chance to see what it’s like in all of the houses. The 13th (Saturday) is Theme Day, but I’m not exactly sure how that works. I think that the houses all pick a theme and the rushees have to do the theme of the house that they want. Not sure. But I’m excited! Except it doesn’t stop there. Nope. On Sunday, the 14th, it’s the preference day, where we pick our top sororities. Then Monday, the 15th, it’s Bid day, where the sororities get to bid on the girls that they want in their sorority.

It’s a long process, I’m sure. But I am totally excited to participate and get into a sorority!

Derek always told me to do something with myself. In other words he was telling me, “Stop worrying and focusing on me 24/7 and find something that YOU want to do.” After he said that, I guess it finally hit me that I was being way too clingy with him, and that I wanted to do everything with him. But not anymore. I am going to do what I want to do. I’m going to join a sorority. Yay me!

Tomorrow my cousin is flying up from Long Beach to visit the Bay. So I’m going to pick her up at the airport. But before that I’m going to try and get some of my school books. We’ll see what happens, though. I’m also supposed to take the sis-in-law, niece, and nephew to the mall to pick up some last minute things for the other sis-in-law’s wedding this Saturday.

I like doing productive things. haha I’ve felt like such a bum without a job for the past two weeks. haha!
